| Lightning Strike Starts House Fire |
| Mon, May 31st, 2010 9:15 pm -
At approximately 2115 hours after a fast moving lightning storm moved through the area, Station 20 along with mutual aid units were alerted for the working attic fire at 71 Carriage Square in the Tules Run Development. Arriving Chief 20 & 2-20 found flames from the peak of the roof. The home owner reported they were home when the strike occurred and had evacuated the structure upon arrival. Tanker 20 layed in from the end of the lane due to limited water supply and advanced a preconnect to the attic via the second division access. Ladder 20 crew laddered the structure and made their way to the peak where the roofing material was removed. Quick work was made of the fire as only roof decking material was burning and there was no extension to the attic. Mutual Aid units staged and assisted with pick up. The roof was covered with a tarp and units returned available at approximately 2230 hours. No injuries were reported. |
