| Tanker and Rescue Engine handle Tractor Trailer Fires |
| Mon, Jul 12th, 2010 10:00 am -
On the 8th around 1900 the Tactical Alarm was transmitted for the brake fire on Interstate 180 west bound near the Route 87 off ramp. Chief 2-20 arrived to find light smoke showing from the rear tires on the tractor portion of a semi. The Tanker and Rescue Engine arrived shortly after and did some cooling and a small amount of overhaul. Units cleared shortly after. The second and more extensive fire occured on the 12th around 1000 in the 21000 block of Interstate 180 east bound. The Tanker and Rescue Engine responded and were advised by multiple officers of surrounding departments on the scene of a working tanker truck fire. Units arrived to find the rear of the tractor involved and the tank of the trailer ruptured due to the high heat. The Tanker had been carrying plastic pellets but had been emptied prior to the fire. Units made quick work of the fire and cleared within 20 minutes. The response video of the Tanker can be viewed under our video gallery. |
