Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment

Just prior to 16:00 hrs, Station 20 and EMS were alerted to the area of Claire Road and Chestnut Street for an MVA with entrapment. Ambulance 20 responded upon dispatch while (Loaner) Engine 1-20 responded within three minutes with a full crew. Tanker 20 and Ambulance 1-20 also responded to assist. Chief 2-20 arrived on the scene to confirm a Ford explorer on its side in the middle of the street with one entrapped. Engine 1-20, and Tanker 20 arrived and made quick work of flapping the roof down and having the patient packaged and onto the litter within eight minutes of arriving on the scene. While Ambulance 20 and MICU 18 assessed the entrapped patient, Ambulance 1-20 assessed another patient and obtained a refusal. All units were available within twenty five minutes of dispatch.

Tactical Alarm

Just after Lunch at 12:35 hrs, Station 20 was alerted to a vehicle fire on I-180 East just West of the Fairfield Road Exit. Captain Hutchins was just returning from the CAFCA training grounds on I-180 east with Engine 1-20. Captain Hutchins Responded driver only and arrived to flake his own 1 ¾” line off the engine. Tanker 20 arrived on scene to find the engine's line flaked out and ready for use. While Captain Hutchins charged the line Tanker 20's crew began the attack. Tanker 20 was ready to make water to the Engine if needed. The fire was placed under control within a minute, and a special thanks to Captain Hutchins for making our job that much easier!!!!!!!!!!

Box 20-5 Garage Fire

As the rain fell, Station 20 was advised by the 911 Center of a possible attached garage fire on Colonial Drive (Box 20-5). Tanker 20 responded within two minutes of dispatch. The 20 House live-in members piggybacked the tanker along with a response from Ambulance 20. An officer from a neighboring department arrived to find the fire was out with no extension noted and was due to a garden tractor on fire. Chief 20 notified county to hold with Tanker and Ambulance 20. Chief 20 arrived to find nothing showing. A tractor was extinguished and removed from the structure prior to our arrival. Chief 20 placed the box in service once a thermal imaging camera was ran through the structure.

Working Box 20-1

 This afternoon brought a working fire to the Borough of Montoursville. At 13:10 the 20 House was dispatched for a kitchen fire at The Mill Race Commons complex (Box 20-1). Mill Race Commons is a retirement apartment building and also one of several commercial box assignments in our first due. All three Chiefs responded on the box, and the working fire box was placed in service bringing three engines, two rescues and a Mobile Intensive Care unit. Chief 2-20 arrived on scene and assisted the sprinkler system with an extinguisher until Ladder 20 could arrive. Ladder 20 went to work with a full crew of six personnel and assisted chief 2-20 with an additional extinguisher while also venting and overhauling the apartment. A primary search was completed with no victims found. Tanker 20, and Engine 1-20 arrived to assist Ladder 20 with Resident evacuation of the structure. All residents were accounted for, and fire was held to the fire room. Along with Ambulance 20, several additional BLS units with two additional ALS units were requested due to outside temperatures. This marks two dwelling fires within 24 hours for Station 20.

Working Box 45-3

At 16:31 hrs. Ladder 20 was placed on a second alarm assignment to 216 Staver Street in Jersey Shore Borough (Box 45-3). Reports from the scene advised house well involved with possible exposures. Ladder 20 responded in two minutes with a full crew. Ladder 20 arrived on scene and went to work assisting with overhaul. Once operations were complete, Ladder 20 returned to service.

Motor Vehicle Accident at Wal-Mart

 During lunch at just a minute after noon Station 20 was alerted to a vehicle accident with unknown injuries in the parking lot of Wal-Mart. The Rescue Engine and Ambulance responded on the accident within three minutes, and arrived on scene to find several vehicles involved. After the officer of Engine 1-20 did a scene size up it was determined that eight vehicles were involved with two possible injuries. While EMS assessed a patient in one of the vehicles, the Rescue Engine crew stabilized the vehicle and contained fluid hazards. The Ambulance obtained two refusals, and all units were placed in service within a half hour of dispatch.
