While
the company was in deep discussion with the monthly
meeting, Montoursville Fire was alerted for a dryer fire
in the Boro. Assistant Chief 1-20 (Wilson) , Tanker and
Ladder responded with 8 volunteers. Upon arrival, crews
were notified by P.D. dryer was side delta and still had
active fire inside. Crews checked for extension, removed
dryer from structure, and then set up PPV. Units cleared
within 20 minutes.
The
20 House members enjoyed a night of ‘’fire
watch’’ as they helped out Montoursville High
School with their bonfire/homecoming
celebration. The fun was then supplemented with
apple cider and roasting marshmallows.
Tonight Montoursville Fire Department had a
great time not only learning, but applying and
refreshing their skills on the different ways of
egress and escape routes. Due to the generosity
of Susquehanna Health we were able to use this
acquired structure. All of those that
participated walked away with useful knowledge.
A couple of
20 House members took the Basic Vehicle Rescue
Technician course that was hosted by the Hughesville
Fire Department. This was the last part of a 3 part
class that gave our members the ability to use all the
knowledge they obtained during the course in a “hands
on” atmosphere.
Today
at about 1700 hrs the 20 House was alerted to
the off ramp of I-180 for an MVA with injuries.
Chief 20, Engine 1-20 along with the both
Ambulances arrived to find 1 vehicle on its roof
with 1 patient ejected and 1 patient that
crawled out prior to arrival. Engine 1-20
assisted with patient care while Ambulance 1-20
took one patient to the airport to be flown by
Life Flight 4. Units were on scene for less than
half an hour. Brush 20 and the available
Ambulance returned to assist PSP with lighting
for an investigation.
