9-8-2006

September 8th brings the 4th and final installment to the entrapment monthJust after dinnertime, Rescue-Engine 1-20 was dispatched to Muncy Township on the Interstate for a vehicle accident with one confined. Upon arrival of Chief 23, Engine 1-20 was ordered to pop the driver’s door. As the Rescue-Engine arrived, with Life-Flight circling overhead, crews went into operation. After stabilization, ALS Captain Hutchins conferred with Medic 2-91, and the decision to take the roof was established, due to the roof intrusion from the vehicle rolling. The vehicle’s roof was removed, and the patient was extricated in 14 minutes. Units placed available, after helping the boys from 23 reload their trash line.

9-6-2006

On September 6th, units were alerted to Lycoming Mall Drive in Fairfield Township for a possible vehicle fire. Paid staff got a jump on the tanker, and extinguished the small fire under the hood with a portable extinguisher. No services were required from Tanker 20, and units returned available.

8-27-2006

August 27th brought entrapment #3 of the month, and the 2nd in as many days. The initial dispatched was at 1708 hrs during a steady rainstorm.  As Chief 20 arrived on scene, he found 1 patient still entrapped with another patient self extricated from the same vehicle.  The 2nd vehicle’s occupants were all self extricated.  Engine 1-20 crews ‘popped’ the door and lifted the dash to free the driver’s legs.  Engine 1-20 crew also removed the roof to easily extricate the patient.  Two patients were taken to The Williamsport Hospital while the 2nd vehicle’s occupants refused treatment.  On scene along with Engine 1-20 were Ambulance 20, Ambulance 1-20, and MICU 18.

8-26-2006

August 26 brought entrapment #2 for the month. The MVA was dispatched at 2127 hrs.  As Chief 20 arrived on scene, he reported 1 patient confined with multiple complaints.  As Engine 1-20 arrived on scene, they received running instructions to stabilize the vehicle and remove the roof.  After the patient was fully immobilized and extricated, the patient was taken to The Williamsport Hospital. Along with Engine 1-20, Ambulance 20, MICU 18, and Capt 10-91 were on scene.

8-17-2006

In the early hours of August 17th, Station 20 personnel were alerted to a vehicle into a structure with a patient uninjured, but unresponsive. Upon the arrival of crews, the driver was found to be intoxicated, and sheared the gas meter from the exterior of the residence. The patient was taken into police custody, and crews remained on the scene until the gas company arrived. PPV was established to clear the residence of the natural gas and units went available.

8-10-2006

On August 10th, the rescue-engine was beckoned to assist the boys from 22-land with a high-angle rescue assignment. An individual was reported to having a possible fractured leg while still in the creek. WBF Boat 1 was also called to the scene, and was ultimately used to remove the patient from the water.

8-4-2006

August 4th started a string of four extrications that spanned just over a one month period for the 20 House. This day brought a 2-vehicle MVA in Muncy Township at the intersection of Lycoming Mall Drive and Lycoming Mall Road. Rescue-Engine 1-20 was special called after entrapment was confirmed. Both BLS trucks responded as well due to the amount of reported injuries. Crews removed the roof from one of the vehicles and assisted in patient extrication.

7-11-2006

On July 11th, units were alerted to Rt. 87 Highway for a reported vehicle rollover with injuries. Upon the arrival of the Chief, 2 injuries were confirmed. BLS were double pulled from the 20 house, as well as the Rescue-Engine. Both patients were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

6-15-2006

On June 15th, a working box alarm was struck at lunchtime. After some confusion to the whereabouts of the caller, units were ultimately notified that the fire was on Carey Hill Rd. Paid staff arrived with the dwelling pushing heavy fire from division II. A defensive attack was ordered and units worked for nearly 2 hours. The fill site was established approximately 1000 feet up the dirt driveway. WBF Engine 2-1, Tanker 18, Station 22, and Rescue 13 were due on the box.

6-9-2006

On June 9th, units were alerted to Interstate 1-80 for a reported dump truck rollover with unknown injuries. Police department arrived on scene stating no injuries. Rescue Engine 1-20 handled a minor fluid hazard, and went available with no further services required.

On May 24th, 20 house units were alerted to the intersection of Rt. 87 and Back St. in Upper Fairfield Twsp for an MVA with no injuries. Crews assisted with traffic control and handled fluid hazards.

Shortly after 1 p.m. Engine 1-20 was special called into Loyalsock Township for a motor vehicle accident with 1 entrapped.  The Engine arrived on scene and was directed to aide with stabilization, and to remove the roof of the car on it’s side. The patient was extricated and Engine 1-20 cleared the scene within 30 minutes.

 

5-4-2006

At 1940 a working fire was dispatched in the borough of Montgomery, at 125 Montgomery Street. The building was an old vacant warehouse, which had also caught fire 10 years ago. The 1st alarm brought Ladder 20, and the third alarm brought Tanker 20 with a total of 14 people. Ladder 20 arrived and set for defensive operations/ exposure protection. Throughout the fire Ladder 20 pumped for 3 hours, and operated as one of many elevated master streams. After 4 hours Ladder 20 was released by command.

2-26-2006

Ladder 20 was alerted on a second alarm , to the city of Williamsport. Units arrived on scene and found a 3 story Victorian home that was being used for college housing, with fire throughout the 3rd floor. Ladder 20 arrived and set on the C side, the crew pulled 2 hand lines and assisted with fire attack and overhaul. Ladder 20 cleared the scene after just over 4 hours.

2-18-2006

Station 1 was alerted to a working structure fire in the 300 block of Washington Boulevard.  Moments later, personnel from station 18 reported the working fire to be in their district @ 352 Pennsylvania Avenue just off of Washington Boulevard.  City units continued into the scene and Loyalsock struck a second alarm. When initial units arrived there was fire from the second and third division of the 2 ½ story double wood framed house. Ladder 20 crew was on scene working for 75 minutes until released by Loyalsock command.
