12-19-05

Around lunch time station 23 was dispatched to a car fire at the Lycoming Mall. Before any units responded, county notified Chief 23 that there are at least three cars on fire at that time. Chief 23 then special called Engine 1-20, and Tanker 20. Both units were on the street before the 3 minute mark, with 10 personnel. When the crews arrived they pulled multiple hand-lines from Tanker 20 and did overhaul. In the end there were 5 cars involved. About 750 gallons and 45 minutes later, station 20 units returned available. 

11-29-05

Just before 0800 Station 20 was dispatched for a possible furnace malfunction, at 12 N Washington Street (the old firehouse) in the Borough of Montoursville.  The ambulance arrived on scene and discovered smoke that smelled like wood burning throughout the building. When Tanker 20 arrived their crew split up and did a search of the building. They found a smoldering fire in a bedroom, in the subdivision of the structure. Station 20 units were on scene for about 2 hours doing ventilation and overhaul.

11-25-05

Just before 0700, Station 20 volunteers were alerted on the 18-2 box for the working fire in a single family dwelling. That brought the tanker, ladder and 13 personnel to the scene. Tanker 20 was directed to draft from the creek in the driveway and supply Engine 22. Both station 20 crews aided with extinguishment and overhaul of the building. Our units were placed available within 90 minutes.

11-25-05

While Ladder-20 was on a transfer assignment at WBF headquarters, another fire in the city of Williamsport broke out.  This fire was at the intersection of Campbell and 2nd Street. It brought the second and third alarms on the initial dispatch due to multiple calls of heavy fire involvement, and all of the city duty units were tied up on a working fire in Newberry.  When Engine 14, Engine 4-1, and Ladder 20 arrived on scene they confirmed heavy fire throughout the 3 story apartment building. A defensive attack was done for multiple hours in the below freezing temperature. Due to the 3rd alarm being utilized on scene, Engine 1-20 was transferred to WBF headquarters. Station 20 units were released by command after a few hours.

11-19-05

At 1232 Ladder 20 was requested on a second alarm to 633 1st Ave in the city of Williamsport. Units arrived on scene to find a 2 ˝ story structure with fire on the second floor and attic. Ladder 20’s crew was on scene for about an hour and a half before getting placed in service.

11-12-05

Station 20 and 22 participated in a structural burn session at the Schuylkill Fire Training Center (Frackville).  All parties involved had a great time. Station 20 would like to send thanks out to all the instructors that made this class possible.

11-03-05

At 1237 Stations 20 and 23 were alerted by Lycoming County 911 to Timberend estates lot 69 for a Box alarm, reported smoke in the structure. Ambulance 1-20 crew arrived on scene and discovered smoke in the trailer banked down to knee level. At that time Chief 20 requested the working fire box. While doing a search there was a smoldering fire discovered in a bedroom of the structure. Tanker 20, Engine 1-23 and Ambulance 1-20 we held on scene for ventilation and overhaul and all other units were recalled. At 1456 all station 20 units cleared the scene.

We sold our previous Tanker to Picture Rocks Volunteer Fire Company. They made a few orange “modifications” to it, and we hope it works out well for them.

 

10-11-05

At 2205 a second alarm was sounded for a fire at 667 Green Street In the city of Williamsport.  Initial reports stated the smoke could be seen from the Williamsport Hospital. First in units stated a 2 ˝ story multiple family dwelling with flames showing, unknown entrapment. Tanker 20 responded with 6, due to Ladder 20 being O.O.S for service that week. The crews were utilized to open up, and check for extension. The fire was very difficult to open up due to double plank construction. On the third alarm, Engine 1-20 was transferred to WBF headquarters for standby.  Chief 20 was detailed as chief’s aide at car 1, Chief 1 (Goodbrod) had the command. All 20 house units were picked up and available by 0230 hours

 

10-08-05 

Both ambulances from company 20 were requested to an MVA with 2 ejected, in the 500 Block of Butternut Grove road Gamble Township box area 22-25.

Each ambulance transported a class 1 pt. to a landing zone off of Wallis Run road. Chief 1-22 (Aikey) had the command. 20 units cleared the call within 2 hours.

10-07-05

At 1359 Station 20 was alerted to a structure fire on Pleasant Hill Road, Eldred Township, box area 22-18. The alarm brought the Tanker, Ladder, Engine and Ambulance with 17 personnel. The first in unit reported heavy black smoke from the structure. The house had long driveway that only had room for the first in engine. Truck 20 crew made it to the roof via ground ladders and ventilated, once that was accomplished they aided with salvage and overhaul. The Tanker had water supply at the end of the driveway, and was feeding Engine 22. Engine 1-20 was at a nearby stream filling tankers. Chief 2-20 had the command, and all 20 house units cleared within 2 hours.

10-02-05

At 0753 Station 20 volunteers were dispatched for their second entrapment call in a week. One car was found into a tree over an embankment, across from 1640 Brushy Ridge road. Engine, Tanker, and Ambulance all responded within 4 minutes of dispatch with 18 personnel.  The roof was removed, and the patient was extricated with 9 minutes of our on scene time. Ambulance 1-20 transported the class 1 patient to the Williamsport Hospital. All other units cleared the scene at 0817. Chief 20 (Welty) had the command.

09-29-05

At 0830 Station 20 was dispatched to an MVA at the intersection of Broad and Willow Street in the borough, reported rollover with a trauma arrest. Ambulance 20 and 1-20 responded on dispatch, they found the east bound lanes blocked with one entrapped, and 2 other patients out of the vehicles. Engine 1-20 arrived on scene and removed the pt. within 7 minutes. Ambulance 20 and 1-20 both transported class 1 patients to the Williamsport hospital. Micu-18 transported the third patient which was class 3. Captain 2-20 (Taylor) had the command. All units cleared the scene within a half hour.
