Box 1, Center Street
The 20 Truck was dispatched on 2nd alarm to a
mid-rise fire in elderly apartments. Crews were sent to
the roof and to search multiple divisions of the
structure. The Williamsport Bureau of Fire did an
excellent job of containing the fire and evacuating the
building with assistance from the Bureau of Police.
Additional fire and EMS resources were also called the
fire, however not a full 3rd alarm.

Box 20-5, Spike Lane
20 House was dispatched to a trailer fire with Engine 22
and Tankers 22 & 23 filling the box assignment. Units
arrived to find an old abandoned pull behind camper
burnt to the ground with a field fire. The original
live-ins (Tyson Minier & Jeff Bennett) were on an assist
the public with Brush 20 when the alarm was struck.
Naturally they left the original call and were proud to
be the first unit on scene of the camper/field fire.
Despite the stories that have been told, these two did
contain the fire with Brush 20 aka. “The Mini-Pumper.”

Box 20-3, Lyons Barr Road
Second working fire in as many days for the 20 House. A
large 2 ½ story dwelling with heavy involvement upon the
arrival of Chief 20 (Welty) Engine 22, Engine 1, Engine
18, and Tanker 18 filled out the working fire dispatch.
2nd alarm brought Rescue 13, Engine 14,
Engine 1-23, Tanker 8, and Tanker 23. Engine 10 and
Engine 4-45 handled transfer assignments. Chief 20
placed the fire under control in approximately 40
minutes. A job well done by all departments.

Box 1-14, King Street
Fatal structure fire in Williamsport’s Newberry
section. 2 ½ story duplex with heavy involvement. 20
Truck to the scene on 2nd alarm. Crews
assisted in vertical ventilation in the rear of the
structure and fire suppression in the basement. A 3rd
alarm was issued. |

Box 18-1, Wilmont Drive
Chimney fire in Loyalsock Township’s commercial box area
during their awards banquet. Ladder 20, Engine 1-20,
and a BLS unit into the scene. An additional crew did
respond with Engine 18 along with Chief 18 (Caschera)
who had command. |

Box 20-4, Carey Hill Road
Working vehicle fire inside of a garage. Engine 1-20
crew gained entry and extinguished the fire. Tanker 20
handled water supply. Engine 22 and Tanker 22 fulfilled
the box and assisted with overhaul…all while missing our
on being the first piece in, due to a wrong address
given by the passerby who called 911. Nevertheless, a
nice group effort. |

MVA, Box 20-2
Pin job on Lycoming Mall Drive with two injuries.
Engine 1-20 completed extrication of the driver in less
than 10 minutes. Chief Welty was however disciplined by
female PSP Trooper for writing his name in the snow. |

Annual awards banquet for the boys from 22. Once again,
a special thanks for the invitation as well as a great
meal. It is always a pleasure to work with and just
hand out with the boys from the “Double Deuce.” |

Box 1-14, Maxwell Place
Second fire is as many days for the Williamsport Bureau
of Fire. A two-story building with heavy involvement.
Ladder 20 to the scene on 2nd alarm. Crews
worked with the brothers from the Bureau of Fire on
vertical ventilation and fire suppression on all
divisions. |

Box 1, West Fourth Street
Double fatal fire in the Williamsport Historic
District. A three story Victorian home with heavy fire
on all divisions. 20 Truck was sent on 2nd
alarm and assisted with searches and engine company
operations. A rescue was made by the Williamsport
Bureau of Fire. A 3rd alarm was issued. |

Box 22-18, Pleasant Hill Road
Working garage fire with extension into dwelling in
Eldred Township during one of the worst snowstorms of
the season. Engine 1-20, Tanker 20, Ladder 20 and a BLS
unit were due. Crews put a vent hole in the roof as
well as assisted the “Double Deuce” with engine company
operations. A nice knockdown was performed by the boys
from Station 22. A 3rd alarm was issued with
various transfer assignments. |

First due kerosene heater fire in the borough. Moderate
smoke condition in the 2nd floor apartment.
Quick knock down by the Montoursville PD. Fire
Department handled ventilation. |
